KUMBAKONAM:

This has been broken by Lord Siva by throwing Arrow on it and things kept in that spill over in several places over here and there and all that places the following temples had been come up.The amirtham that spread and wet the land up to five kuorosa area that places has been called as present kumbakonam this town has been Architect and built by Viswakarma upon Brama request.

This twon has got Pancha Kuorosa temple namely as follows.

1.Thillai Natrajar temple:

Thhis temple is Pioneer for all siva temple in Tamilnadu and considered as first important temple for Siva followers. This is due to Murhty, isthalm and theertham all category it has been  enriched. In olden days this area was covered by thillai trees and Athikadau forest hence this region was fallen in south arcot district.One decade ago this south arcot dt.  was  split into Cuddalore and villupuram district.This temple comes under Cuddalore district.It has got other names such as Puliyur, Viyakipuram, Bologa kailasam, Pundarigapuram finally the Chidambarm name become dominant and is in practice now days.The Chidambarm means Chit+ Ambaram=Chidambaram ie. Chiit- means knowledge and Ambaram means space.It means Knowledge of limitless.

This temple spread in 51 acre are in the midest of Chidambaram town surrounded by Kolidam river in north and Manimukta river in south which engulfs rich in agriculture land. The temple architect co-relate with human body structure. In our body major 7 chakras (energy focused point) were there as per hindu mythology. In this the Heart chakara belongs to this temple.In Panch boodham its belongs to the Agasa(sky) isthalam.

The santarum roof is covered with Gold.This roof has got 21,600 segments of soil made cover which reflects the human being on an average breathing rate per day.This roof gold sheet  joining purpose 72,000 gold nails were used which reflects our human being consists of 72000 nadis (Various nerves nodal point in our body).The 64 wood made pillars reflects 64 types arts system followed in Hindu mythology.9 gold kalasams indicates Navagiragams concept in the temples.

GOD HAS BEEN CALLED POONAMBALAM  BY DEVOTEES:

Once the the Budha king came with deaf child to this area to establish Buddhism in this region, The Manikavasagar great saint admired by this king due to his great knowledge and debate skill and his deep love with god here.The saint made miracle of speaking up this deaf child with god grace, hence the king also started following Sivam principle here hence the God has been called us Poonbalam by devotees here.
